Save Lives While Walking with Your Dog
By: Shawna Gallagher, ABCDT ~ 3/13/2015

TritonSaveLivesWalk_s.jpgThis is for all of the animals that our rescue groups and shelters work so hard to save.

Have you ever wonder how you can help with your busy schedule? It could be as easy as turning on an app right beffore you head out for a walk with your dog. There are 2 apps that I am aware of that are free downloads and will donate a set amount of money per mile logged. All you need to do is download the app to your phone and turn it on every time you go for a walk with your dog. It's just that simple!

ResQwalk will donate approximately 20 cents per logged in mile to the shelter or rescue group of your choosing.

WalkForADog by WoofTrax donates varying amounts depending on the sponsorship per logged in mile. Some as high as a dollar per mile!

Both of these apps are free and can be downloaded onto most smartphones. I love these apps not just becuse I am raising money for a local rescue group of my choosing but it also keeps track of the miles that I walk. So the next time your dog is begging for his walk, you can feel confident that you're not only improving the health of you and your dog but you are raising money for a rescue group or shelter of your choosing.

If you currently volunteer with a rescue group or shelter I would encourage you to get all of the volunteers together and share these fundraising apps with them. Then every time you and your friends go for a walk you are supporting something you believe in. This would also be a fun fundraising campaign to get your community involved in.

Working together we can save them!!
