I witnessed Sofia being hit by a truck!

OMG!!!! I witnessed a client’s dog getting hit by a truck!!!
Friday January 16, 2015
I pulled up to a client’s house and saw my client out front talking with one of her neighbors, who had her two Golden Retrievers out front with her. As I got out of my car, I made my way over to the ladies. Just as I made it over I turned around and saw Sofia get hit by a truck! I know, how freakin’ scary!! It must have been just too much for this sweet energetic girl. She managed to jump the fence and was running over to us when she was hit. A neighbor pulled over after seeing us, we loaded her into van, and I put Sofia’s Mom into my car and we rushed to the vet. I stayed until they took Sofia back for x-rays and pain meds. I then took her mom home seeing as it was going to be at least several hours before they released Sofia.
She has a front broken leg that may need surgery to set it and we’re keeping a close eye on one of her back legs because of the swelling. Her Mom had to pay a little over $1,000 for x-rays and pain meds. The good news is she will be fine.
As for the guy who hit Sofia, well, he is a neighbor and as far as I know is not offering any kind of assistance. I do know that at the scene he stated that he felt bad. I asked him to leave his information with the lady that lived across the street but I found out later that he did not.

I stopped in to check on Sofia and her Mom. Everyone seems to be doing okay. It’s a challenge for Sofia to get up and down the couple of outside stairs so she can go potty, and she doesn’t want to take her meds. One of the neighbors has offered to help with getting Sofia back and forth from her vet visits. Which is great because if needed I would have done it. Sofia now has a couple of different Kong’s and treat dispensing toys to help keep her from moving around too much. She has a check-up on Monday.

I called to see how everyone is doing and it looks like Sofia will not be needing the surgery to set her leg after all. Yeah!!!! But her back leg is swelling more than the doctors would like, so we’re keeping a close eye on that. Her next follow-up is Thursday, I will post an update as soon as I get one.
How can you help and why I am writing this:
Here is where I really could use your help. Sofia’s Mom is a senior on a fixed income and the bills are piling up. So far the total is $1,400 with another couple hundred expected with follow-up visits. Sofia’s Mom is unaware that I am doing this. I would love to surprise her next week with as much money as I can raise to help ease the financial stress.
Please click the GoFundMe link and Donate, even if it is $5.00 and please Share to help me get the word out.
